Ok, here goes an attempt to come up with a list of what to pack for deployment.  This will be a work in progress and I will be happy to consider any suggestions.  I am sure I will forget lots of obvious things so be patient.  I have only been deployed to W.T.C. so those of you with more experience will know a lot better than me.  Send any ideas you have to me and together we can, in time, come up with a pretty good list.

I like to keep a bag packed with basics that I would need to take on any trip.  At the time of call up, I will need to add items specific for the mission.  I will need to consider location and weather.  I also have a small backpack I use as a carry-on.  Some of these things I keep in the carry-on.

Things I keep packed:  Clothing

        2 pair khaki BDU pants

        1 khaki BDU uniform blouse

        6-10 Tee-shirts (some white and some of the green Region 9 tee-shirts)

        14 pair of socks and unders

        Some casual clothes (jeans, shorts, tee-shirts and polo shirts, sweats)

        Black work boots (I have law enforcement style boots I bought from Galls.  I usually travel in sneakers.  If not, I would pack some)

        DMORT hat (boonie or ball cap)

Toiletries (I pack mine in a zip lock bag and bring a couple of extra zip lock bags)

        Tooth brush and paste

        Travel shampoo, soap and wash cloth

        A couple of weeks worth of prescription medication

        Rollaids

        Asprin

        Nail clippers

        Scissors

        Razor and shaving cream

        Deodorant (gell deodorants don't travel well, stick to the solids)

        Small first aid kit

        Sunscreen

Miscellaneous

        DMORT ID and lanyard (A must have on deployment, I always keep mine with me or in my carry-on)

        Passport (Another important item to have ready)

        2 M.R.E.s (Meals Ready to Eat)

        A couple of hundred in cash and a few dollars in change

        Cell phone and charger

Other personal items I like to keep ready

        Stamps and stationary

        Pictures from home

        My P.D.A.

        A paperback book I have been wanting to read

        Walkman and compact discs I like to listen to in the airport and on the plane

        A small bible

        A few departmental patches and pins to share

        A deck of cards

        A small flashlight

        A couple of bottles of water

        Baby wipes

        Roll of toilet paper
