Region IX Team Members:
Effective April 1, 2004,
our DMORT Team will be using a
system of scheduling for our
members. This will allow
everyone to know which months
they are "off (stand down),"
which months they are "on call"
and "on standby."
There are three teams...Red
Squad, White Squad and Blue
Squad. Each team has 4
months of ON CALL, 4 months
of STANDBY and 4 months of
STAND DOWN. These rotate
throughout the year.
"ON CALL"
Months: Your deployment bag
should be ready to go; if
needed, you should have an extra
3-weeks worth of prescription
meds on hand; you should inform
your employer and make any
needed arrangements in case you
are away from your job; have
home issues up to date (who will
pay bills? take care of
children? feed pets?, etc.)
It is important that each of you
know that we on command staff
realize situations arise that
may keep you from being able to
be
deployed during an "on
call" month. We do understand.
For the mental health of
everyone involved, it is very
important that you and your
family are supportive of each
other in times of deployment (or
potential deployments....)
"ON STANDBY" Months: Basically
the same as ON CALL months, but
with a less likely
chance to actually be
called out. "Be ready just in
case!"
"STAND DOWN" Months:
These are the months to schedule
vacations, elective surgeries,
or just "kick back" and maybe
re-pack and re-stock your
deployment bag. There is a very
small chance you will be
called. Take a DMORT break!!
It is the desire of your
command staff to do the absolute
best for the team members of
Region IX. This system is being
activated so that our team will
be able to function more
smoothly and effectively. There
may be changes or adaptations
along the way, but as with
anything, changes are usually
for the better.
We do thank you for
understanding and cooperation
towards the accomplishments of
our common objectives!
Sincerely,
John LInstrom, Commander
Robert Vigil, Deputy
Commander
Tony Manoukian, Deputy
Commander
Barbara Salazar, Administrative
Officer
Emil Moldovan, Training Officer
